David Howell - England's Youngest Grandmaster

David Howell, playing in Stockholm, has gained his third, and final, GM norm by scoring 7/9 in the Rilton Cup competition. With his new rating of 2501 he meets all the requirements for the Grandmaster Title and becomes England's youngest-ever GM. Luke McShane was some 6 months older when he became a GM. It remains just a formality for the World Chess Federation (FIDE) to ratify David's title.

The ECF congratulates David on this superb performance.
