Leek Congress, 12-14 September 2003

The 4th Leek Congress saw 136 people take part in a 26 player Open and everyone else put in descending grade order and split into 4 roughly equal main sections.

The Open saw a 3-way tie for 1st place on 4/5 between IM Danny Gormally, IM Colin Crouch and David Hulmes, Stockport, with four players sharing 4th place, including 17-year-old Stephen Gordon, 3Cs, who caused major upset by beating Robert Gwaze in round 3 and drawing with Danny Gormally in round 4.

Neil Moss, Oldham, won the 1st of the main sections, Gavyn Cooper, Newport, won the 2nd, Kristian Chester, Macclesfield and Stephen Lloyd, Chester, shared the 3rd and Paul Clapham, Newcastle under Lyme, won the third.
