CCF Open Rapidplay, 29th November 2003

A total of 46 players battled at Coulsdon today in the latest CCF Open Rapidplay Chess Competition and as usual, the field had a full range of players, in both age and strength. In all, 15 of the players went away with prize money, helped by ties for the Under 150, Under 125 and Under 100 grading brackets. Of the two favourites, it was IM Danny Gormally who came away victorious, having beaten fellow IM Graeme Buckley in the 4th round. Danny went on to register a maximum score (boosting his score in the British Chess Federation Grand Prix and also starting well in his first tournament in this year's Coulsdon Grand Prix) whilst Graeme finished a point behind along with Kingston player Chris Briscoe who jumped over higher graded players to take the Under 210 grading prize.
