A grey misty morning saw the England team arriving at Gatwick airport in preparation for their trip to Croatia for the European Youth Chess Championships. Peter Roberson (U18), Katie Martin (U18), Callum Kilpatrick (U16), Amisha Parmar (U16), Subin Sen (U14), Angali Lakhani (U14), Craig Whitfield (U12), Peter Williams (U12) and Roy Zhang (U10) donned their black ECF England shirts and boarded the plane for sunnier climes. The players were accompanied by parents, one sibling, a channel 4 film crew (Lucy and Wesley) and two coaches, Peter Wells and Thomas Rendle. Glen and Krishna Parmar are acting as our group leaders and if the first day is anything to go by, they are going to make a real success of it. We eagerly await tomorrow…
