  A Message from the Director of Congress Chess

  Following the recent meeting of the Management Board, I have been asked to clarify a couple of points relating to the forthcoming Smith and Williamson British Chess Championships in Edinburgh.

  (a) Disabled Access – the main playing halls are both reached by steps. I will ensure that any player who has difficulty with access to the premises will be able to play their game in a room on the ground floor.

  (b) BCF Membership – in line with decisions taken at FIDE and the Federation, all players competing in rated tournaments (ie the British Championship & Major Open) will have to be members of the British Chess Federation or where appropriate their own Federation. All entries will be checked to ensure that this condition is adhered to. (Click here to become a Member)
